Cimiez is an upscale residential area with an aristocratic feel. In the 19th century, Queen Victoria herself stayed at the Regina Hotel here.
It takes about 10 minutes to get to the city center from here. The beach is about half an hour’s walk away, so it is more convenient to have your own car.
Cimiez is located on a hill with a picturesque view of the city. Among the attractions are the ancient Notre Dame monastery, the Matisse and Marc Chagall museums, the Alhambra palace with its minarets, and ancient Roman ruins. Every July, a jazz festival is held here.
Cimiez is a quiet, wealthy area, inhabited mainly by middle-aged and older people. 60% of residents are owners, not renters. Among the real estate, apartments predominate, although there are also many villas. Many apartments in Bas Cimiez have views of the Mediterranean Sea. Luxurious and spacious apartments are offered at prices similar to those in the Musicians’ Quarter – approximately 4-7 thousand euros per square meter.
