Features of stainless steel welding.
More and more stainless steel products are included in our everyday life. And this is understandable, because it does not oxidize, does not lend itself to corrosion, durable, has an aesthetic look. Therefore, today, stainless steel is made of kitchen utensils, furniture, and water pipes, garage gates link and interior details. An important factor in the strength of the structure is its correct welded connection.
The following methods are used for welding stainless steel products:
– if the thickness of the metal is more than 1.5 mm use manual arc electric welding using a tungsten electrode and inert gas;
– With a metal thickness of more than 1.5 mm, the pulsed arc electric welding with a melting electrode among inert gas is chosen.
In order not to depend on the thickness of the metal welded, use plasma welding. In everyday life it will be replaced by a manual argon -arc. A special installation is necessary for its implementation, which consists of a power source of various types with a control system, welding burner and gas cylinder.
The principle of argon welding is as follows: the welding arc burning between the non -melting electrode and the workpiece melts the edges of the filler material and the most welded workpiece. At the same time, gas is supplied to the welding zone, which protects the welding zone from air exposure.
For the correct implementation of argon -arc welding, a qualified welder is necessary. But if you have appropriate work experience and there is an argon -armed welding device, you can learn to weld a stainless metal.
Make welding using a tungsten non -melting electrode. Move the burner only along the axis of the weld, without transverse fluctuations, this will lead to a narrower seam.
So that the metal does not spray, the end of the filler wire is supplied to the welding zone smoothly. It is necessary to ensure that both the electrode and the end of the wire are constantly in the protective gas zone, in order to avoid the saturation of the metal of the seam by air.
Jumping on the right to the left. Evaluate the degree of repayment in the form of molten metal in the seam. With good repayment, a drop of metal is extended towards welding.
Welding without filler material, lead with a strictly perpendicular location of the burner. When welding with filler material, the burner is located at an angle, and the filler wire is supplied to the welding zone in front of the burner.
