Compliance with what installation and operation rules turn plastic pipes into perfect material?

  • April 13, 2018

Very often today for internal sewage systems, shaped parts with pipes made of polyethylene with high density, less often non -plasticized polyvinyl chloride and polypropylene are used.

Polyethylene pipes, as well as shaped parts, distinguish high corrosion resistance and low thermal conductivity, which significantly reduces the likelihood that condensation will form on the surface of the pipes. Due to its smooth surface inside, these pipes have much more throughput than cast -iron pipes in the same diameter. It is known that polyethylene is a very good dielectric, so wandering currents do not appear in such pipes systems. In addition, polyethylene pipes are easily connected to a bell with a sealing rubber ring, and they can also be well cooked.

However, in addition to such obvious advantages, polyethylene pipes also have certain disadvantages, among which one can distinguish greater sensitivity to different mechanical damage, moderate fragility at low temperatures (this phenomenon can easily be passed if installation at a temperature is no less than 15 degrees), And also these pipes are characterized by significant thermal lengthening (in polyethylene, the linear expansion coefficient is 10-15 times more than that of steel). Polyethylene pipes can be transported by a temperature of no more than 45 degrees, so such pipes are not used in high -temperature water supply and heating systems.

It is important to pay attention to when buying the surface of the pipes, as well as shaped parts, are smooth and even, without cracks, bubbles, shells, bloating and extraneous inclusions, which are visible, first of all, even without the use of magnifying devices. Pipe ends must be cut perpendicular to their axis, there should not be burrs on them.

If you have already made a choice in favor of polyethylene pipes, and your home is installed in the internal sewage system, it is important to follow the following rules:

The distance between the steel and polyethylene pipes of the hot water supply system with heating (and they are laid in parallel) cannot be less than 100 mm, and in the case of their intersection – 50 mm;

In places where polyethylene pipes pass through any building structures, they must be wrapped in a sheet asbestos, the thickness of which is 3 mm;

The distance between building structures and polyethylene pipes should not be less than 20 mm;

Welded, bell -shaped and adhesive compounds are used to install polyethylene pipes. Overnight rubber rings can also be used for tightness with a flat and smooth surface without burrs and shells.

Be sure, subject to all installation rules, polyethylene will last you for many years!
