Professor and the influence of his weight on construction

  • April 12, 2018

Convenient and practical professionalist in the installation and extremely durable.

However, choosing the material, it is worth considering such an important aspect in construction work as the weight of a metal sheet.

The influence of the professionalist’s weight on the construction process

Indeed, even at the installation stage, questions arise regarding the weight of the profiled sheet. Firstly, the metal profile should be delivered to the construction site-not all private farms hold a truck in the garage. Secondly, the weight of such a profiled sheet will “feel” in the event of a manual supply to the direct place of installation. Yes, and turning on when trying, measuring and cutting a solid weight of a steel profile is not very handy. The weight of the corrugated board is quite important if you make a roof

Say, when erecting a fence, this may not be so noticeable. Summer kitchen or wall work at the Earth level is not too demanding on the weight of the profiled sheet. However, work and supplies to the height will become a litmus piece of paper for its weight. Facades or roofing wrecking using too hard in weight of the profile will cost you a hundred.

Constructive load load of profiled sheet

It would seem that the average weight of the profiled sheet used in private construction is so small that “what is there to be considered something?!“However, its weight is an average of 5-7 kilograms per linear meter, shifted to the roof area, taking into account the extracts and overlap, well, say, a small house of 6 meters in length and 5 in width will result in an average of 300 kilograms. Add here a crate, vapor barrier, all fasteners, skate and subcass equipment – a ton will “fall” on your small house!

The weight of the profiled sheet depends on the quality of the galvanized alloy

Of course, when erecting fences or wall work on Earth, this is less relevant – the weight of the metal affects only the material itself in the cross section. Here, even significant loads with a galvanized metal will seem “seeds”. But when sheathing the facade and other types of exterior work, the weightlifter weight will “fall” on the walls of your house. How to determine the optimal weight of a metal profile?

Factors affecting the weight of the profiled sheet

The weight of the profiled sheet is determined by the following characteristics of the material: the quality of the galvanized alloy, its thickness and height of the wave or corrugation. In the first question, it all depends on the technologies of the steel industry: as the plants develop, the factories give out the most alloy steel with the growing characteristics of strength and reliability. When choosing a metal sheet, pay attention to the quality of the alloy.

Further, the thickness of the profiled sheet – the thicker the material, the greater the weight of the profiled sheet. But the reliability and bearing characteristics also “go uphill”. Here it should be proceeded from the principle of optimality: half a million thickness for the roof of a private low -rise building is quite enough. And for the fence – and even more so, the neighbor has no tank! In general, the range from 0.4 to 0.6 millimeters is optimal for private construction.

The height of the corrugation also affects the weight of the profiled sheet: the higher the wave, the harder the sheet. Here bearing abilities and water resistance are higher. In this case, it is appropriate to recall the principle of rationality again: 35 mm will be quite enough for the roof, and even more so for the fence. For the wall you can take 44 mm.
